COMMON AND TREATABLE… BUT YOU WOULDN’T KNOW IT
Hypospadias is the second most common birth defect in the world, following only congenital heart defects in prevalence. Yet hypospadias is rarely mentioned in articles, blogs, and other common resources, leaving those who are coping with hypospadias feeling alone and unsupported. Operation Hap-penis is here to change that.
Hypospadias a male birth defect where the opening of the urethra is not located at the tip of the penis but instead further down, anywhere from just below the end of the penis to the scrotum. This defect can range from mild to severe and effects and, if left untreated, can lead to serious issues later in life including difficulties with urination and sexual performance. We want parents and individuals who struggle with hypospadias to know they are not alone (there is a supportive community unafraid of addressing the subject) and there is a cure (corrective surgery is offered by some of the best urologic surgeons in the country).
